MS Supreme Court Justices visit Mission First

On February 12, 2009, Mission First Legal Aid Office welcomed the Justices of the Mississippi Supreme Court for a tour and lunch. Patti Gandy, Legal Aid Office Director, reported on the number of cases opened and the type of services provided to the community during the calendar year 2008. The Legal Aid Office was established by Mississippi College School of Law and Mission First, Inc. to answer God's call to seek justice and mercy by providing legal services and spiritual counsel to qualified residents of Hinds, Madison and Rankin Counties. It was made possible by a generous grant from the Hurst family in tribute to one of Jackson's leading attorneys, the late Joe Jack Hurst. Hurst was a proponent of service to the underserved throughout his distinguished career. The Legal Aid Office is also funded in part by a grant from the IOLTA Program of the Mississippi Bar Foundation, Inc. For more information or to schedule a tour, call 601.608.0056.
